How to Delete a Listing on Poshmark

Keeping your Poshmark closet clean and accurate is important for both buyers and sellers. Sometimes, a listing is no longer needed. Maybe the item was sold on another marketplace, you created the listing by mistake, or the product is no longer available. In those cases, deleting the Poshmark listing is usually the best option.

Poshmark makes the process simple, but there are a few important things sellers should know before removing a listing. This guide explains how to delete a listing on Poshmark, when deleting a listing makes sense, what happens afterward, and why some listings cannot be deleted.

Can You Delete a Listing on Poshmark?

Yes, Poshmark allows sellers to delete active listings from their closets. However, deleting a listing is only useful when:

  • The item was sold somewhere else.
  • You no longer have the item in stock.
  • The listing contains major mistakes.
  • You accidentally created a duplicate listing.
  • You want to permanently remove an unavailable item from your closet.

Poshmark also introduced the Excessive Listing Removal policy in April 2025 to remind sellers that listings should be removed only when items are no longer available.

  3. Next, go to “My Closet” from the drop-down menu.

  6. Lastly, click “Delete Listing” and “Confirm.”

What Happens After You Delete a Listing?

When you delete a Poshmark listing, it is permanently removed from your closet. Buyers will no longer see it in search results or in your Poshmark closet.

Before deleting a listing on Poshmark, keep in mind:

  • The listing will no longer be available for purchase.
  • Any likes associated to that listing will be removed with it.
  • Comments on the listing will also be lost.
  • The same listing cannot simply be restored later.
  • You would need to create the listing again if you change your mind.

That is why it is smart to double-check before deleting a listing on Poshmark. When the problem is only a small mistake, editing the listing may be better than removing it entirely.

Poshmark allows sellers to edit item details such as title, description, price, and photos without deleting the listing.

Can You Delete a Sold Listing on Poshmark?

No, you cannot permanently delete a sold listing on Poshmark.

Once an item sells, Poshmark preserves the listing as a permanent record of the transaction for tax, legal, and reference purposes for both the buyer and seller.

If you happen to have a similar item you want to sell again, you cannot reuse or delete the old page. Instead, Poshmark has a “Copy Listing” tool that duplicates all the listing details into a fresh listing, saving you from rewriting everything.

Why You May Not Be Able to Delete a Listing on Poshmark?

1. The Item Has Already Sold

The most common reason you cannot delete a listing on Poshmark is that it has already been sold.

Poshmark has a strict policy ensuring that once an item sells, the listing becomes a permanent part of the transaction record.

This ensures both buyer and seller protection, allowing Poshmark’s support team to reference the exact original listing if a dispute arises regarding the item’s condition, authenticity, or description.

Even if a buyer cancels the order or you cancel it as a seller, the “Sold” banner remains, and the listing still cannot be deleted or hidden as it serves as a historical record for your closet.

2. There Are Active Offers on the Listing

You cannot delete or mark a listing as “Not for Sale” if there are open financial negotiations attached to it.

This includes active offers made by a buyer that you haven’t responded to yet, as well as open “Offers to Likers” that you sent out to interested buyers.

To resolve this, you must wait for the offer to naturally expire, which usually takes 24 hours, or you can manually decline the incoming buyer offers.

If you sent out an Offer to Likers, you can force it to expire by editing a minor detail in the listing, such as changing the size and changing it back, which automatically voids the active offer.

3. It is a “Multi-Item” Listing Where One Item Has Sold

If you created a Poshmark listing with a quantity greater than one and you have sold at least one of those items, Poshmark will lock the entire listing from deletion.

Because a transaction is tied to that specific listing URL, the system prevents it from being deleted to protect the historical data of the unit that did sell.

While you cannot delete the entire record, you can work around this by editing the listing, changing the remaining quantity to zero, and saving it, which marks the item as completely sold out and unavailable without deleting the historical data.

4. Violating Poshmark’s “Excessive Listing Removal” Policy

A major reason sellers find themselves locked out of deleting listings is hitting Poshmark’s automated system triggers.

Poshmark has strict automated safeguards to combat spam, bots, and aggressive cross-listing practices where sellers immediately delete items to list them on other marketplaces.

Poshmark’s official guidelines advise against deleting and relisting the exact same items within 60 days of their creation.

If you try to mass-delete dozens of items at once, or if your deleted listings make up a significant percentage of your overall closet activity over a 30-day period, Poshmark’s algorithm will flag your account and temporarily suspend your listing and listing deletion privileges.

Should You Delete or Edit a Listing on Poshmark?

Edit the Poshmark Listing When:

  • The price needs to be changed.
  • The photos need improvement.
  • You made a typo in the title or description.
  • The size, color, or category is incorrect.
  • You want to update shipping or condition details.

Delete the Poshmark Listing When:

  • The item is permanently unavailable.
  • The item sold elsewhere.
  • The listing is a duplicate.
  • The product was posted by mistake.
  • You no longer want the item shown in your closet.

What If You Want to Relist Instead?

Some sellers delete listings because they want to refresh stale inventory. However, sellers should be careful with repeatedly deleting and relisting the same items.

In 2025, Poshmark clarified policies around excessive listing removals and repeated relisting. The company said sellers should avoid repeatedly removing and reposting the same items within short periods, especially within 60 days.

If your goal is to create a cleaner or updated version of a listing, Poshmark’s Copy Listing feature may be more appropriate. Poshmark notes that this feature can be used to create similar listings or refresh older listings, and its Replace Original option can move likes over while deleting the old original listing.

Tips Before Deleting a Poshmark Listing

Secure Your Listing Data Before It’s Gone Permanently

When you delete a listing on Poshmark, all associated information vanishes instantly from the Poshmark app and buyer searches.

If you plan to recreate the listing or cross-list the item to another marketplace, you must manually back up the description, title, and key styling keywords.

Copying and pasting the text into a notes app or exporting your listing data prevents you from having to rewrite sizing details, material compositions, and measurements from scratch.

Save Your Original Item Images

Poshmark does not allow you to easily download photos directly from your live listings back into your phone’s camera roll.

Before you delete a listing on Poshmark, make sure you still have the original, uncropped photos saved in your device’s storage.

If you no longer have the original photos of the item, screenshot the listing photos and crop them ahead of time. This will save you from having to completely re-photograph the item if you decide to list it again in the future.

Check for Engagement and Likers

Deleting a listing completely wipes out every single “Like” and comment the listing has accumulated.

Likers on Poshmark represent highly interested buyers who have intentionally bookmarked your item.

Before deleting a stale listing on Poshmark, always send out one final, aggressive “Offer to Likers” with a big discount or discounted shipping.

This will give those engaged shoppers one final 24-hour window to purchase before their connection to the item is erased forever.

Time Your Deletions Around the 60-Day Algorithmic Mark

Poshmark treats listings differently depending on their age.

If you delete a listing that is less than 60 days old just to repost it, the platform’s algorithm will flag it as duplicate or spam behavior, which can suppress your closet’s search visibility.

However, if a listing is older than 60 days, Poshmark considers it a stale listing.

Wait until day 61 to delete and relist the item so that it lands directly at the top of the “Just In” search feed.
